First years can have only 3 lessons per day (double lessons counts for 2). There is a lunch-break in the middle of the day, so double lessons cannot be cut by it.When I decided how many lessons a teacher should have a week, I tried to remain as close as possible to canon. It just shows the concepts I used in FET to generate the actual timetables. If you modify it the timetables will not change. I wrote down the details I used for the timetable generation on the 'Concept' sheet. I left out Astronomy from my timetable completely.I used lessons of different length, resulting in 4 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. The subjects in one group can have lessons at the same time I used the idea of LittleDinghy to pair the houses together for the subjects. The OneDrive folder where you can find everything (spreadsheet, FET project, XML files): !Agx2kC_OYHHEg4xFzbHjs7r8grYWKA?e=4u8cND I was amazed by how Power Query (embedded in Excel) can transform the generated XML data into an easily searchable table which doesn't crash my spreadsheet. And finally, I've just fallen in love with Excel and what it can do (I'm a programmer in my hearth). Secondly, LittleDinghy's original idea was presented in a spreadsheet and I borrowed a lot of concept from it. Firstly, I'd put a lot of time and effort into Excel already. You can find my project file for it in the linked OneDrive folder.Īlthough FET can create pdf and HTML timetables automatically, I wanted to represent them in Excel again. I found a free and open-source program named FET ( ) to generate my timetables. I learned a lot from it (about Excel), but my solution came from somewhere else. I started to play with Excel and tried to figure out a way to improve it. Thirdly, the generated timetables have a different number of classes for the houses. Then, you have no control over when the classes are, you can only change if they're a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff class. Most importantly it doesn't leave place for electives to overlap, making time turners meaningless regards children. It was really interesting first, but I soon realized it has many shortcomings. The original tool by LittleDinghy: Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Class Schedules: A Tool for Fanfiction Writers When I started to search the internet for one I found a post and tool created by LittleDinghy in this community. When I started to write my first fanfiction I encountered the problem, that there is not an official Hogwarts timetable.
